Among ears of rice plants are wheat and chaff. On the outside, they look alike but the chaff, which are empty on the inside, have no value. By the same token, among believers who appear alike on the outside, there are wheat-like – those who abide by Gods word – and there are chaff-like – those who pursuit evil.
Just as the farmer waits until the time of harvest in patience, the God of love waits in patience until the Last Judgment and desires for the chaff-like to be transformed into wheat.
"A battered reed He will not break off, And a smoldering wick He will not put out, Until He leads justice to victory" (Matthew 12:20).
